i love this dichotomy.
When she’s with Stefan, she is in denial. It’s almost like she absorbs his biggest trait, the one who pushes him not to face reality and its consequences. She sits next to Jeremy, she doesn’t smell his corpse decomposing. She locks everything out.
But then Damon arrives home. And reality sets in. She tells April that her brother is dead. She goes upstairs and realizes her brother has been dead all along. She can smell it now. She lets reality sink in. She breaks down and he’s there to catch her.
