I created my blog in June 2009, but hardly ever posted (my “Tumblarity” was always horrendous, haha). I didn’t start actually becoming dedicated and posting every day until March 2010.

Why “intoasylum”?

I got the name from one of my favourite episodes of Heroes. But I chose it for my blog because it has a cool meaning. An asylum can be two completely opposite things: a place of madness, or a sanctuary for those in need of shelter and safety. My blog is my asylum, so when people come to it, they are going “into asylum”.

Who do you ship from each of your favourite shows/movies?

I want to work at the Disney Store, how did you get a job there? What was the process?

It wasn’t that bad or too hard, so if you’re thinking about doing it too, then go for it!

It was September of 2009. I was just starting my second year of university and I had realized that I’d never even had a part-time job in my life. So I passed the Disney Store one day and decided to give it a try since I love Disney so much. I wasn’t really looking for a part-time job, I was just curious and interested to see what would happen if I actually applied and gave it a try. I didn’t even give my resume to any other store, just Disney.

Anyway, I went in a few days later and I asked for a manager, and when she came out I gave her my resume. She asked me on the spot why I wanted to work there, as well as who the “Fab 5” were (thankfully I’m a Disney fanatic so I knew). A week or so later she called me in for a group interview. At the interview each of us had to sing a part of a Disney song of our choice. I chose Aladdin’s “One Jump Ahead (the Reprise)”. On October 22nd, I got the call saying I was hired as a seasonal cast member (meaning only for the Christmas season, which the Disney Store does a lot).

I started on November 1st, 2009. By the end of December the managers gave me a name tag and an actual Disney Store employee shirt (seasonals wear a different outfit). But they still hadn’t told me I was staying so I was confused for a few weeks, haha.

Then when it came to mid-January, I realized that I was still working, and still on the schedule each week. That’s when my manager informed me that they decided to keep me as an actual cast member, and welcomed me to the team. And the rest is history. I’ve been working there for over 3 years now and I love it.

(FYI, you have to be 18 years old or older to work at a Disney Store)

Who is your favorite Harry Potter character?

Hermione Granger is flawless.

How did you get into Harry Potter, and how old were you?

I started liking Harry Potter when I was in 4th grade, before the movies came out. My teacher read a chapter every day of Philosopher’s Stone to our class as part of our “story time”, and then we’d have to do reports and stuff on certain chapters.

But I really got into Harry Potter when the first movie came out in 2001, when I was almost 12 years old. After the first movie I bought all of the first 4 books (since those were the only ones that were out at the time). And thus the love/obsession began!
